• Current motorcycle riding experience/basic motorcycle skills
• Must hold a valid Michigan driver’s license (motorcycle endorsement NOT required)


• This course encourages the use of a participant’s personal motorcycle*.

Intended for those who are experienced, actively riding and wish to earn a motorcycle endorsement or have a motorcycle endorsement and wish to refresh and improve their skills. The objectives of the course include the refining of basic motorcycle skills, allowing the rider to gain more knowledge of risk, including how to manage risk while riding. The riding exercises allow a rider to improve their speed control and braking, counter-steering and cornering, hazard avoidance, and other techniques to operate a motorcycle with skill and safety on the road.

This class consists of approximately 11 hours of instruction – 3 to 4 hours of online preparation to be completed prior to your class start date, 8 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on riding exercises.

PLEASE NOTE: Basic operational skills will be assessed in a required riding exercise. Participants who don’t pass the screening exercise, as assessed by the instructors, will not be allowed to continue. (No refunds; No transfers).

Successful completion of this course and its knowledge and skills tests will result in riding and knowledge test waivers from the Michigan Secretary of State.

* It is recommended that participants provide their own titled and registered motorcycle. Motorcycles that are not judged to be in safe riding condition or appropriate for the class, will not be allowed to be ridden in the class. Sharing of a motorcycle is not allowed. Scooters are allowed. Training motorcycles will be provided for those who do not have a motorcycle judged as appropriate for the class.

Students must provide their own:

• DOT-compliant or Snell-approved helmet (Required for all students to wear during the safety training course)
• Eye protection
• Long-sleeved shirt or jacket
• Long, non-flare pants made of denim or equivalent or more durable material
• Full fingered gloves (preferably leather)
• Over the ankle boots (leather preferred over cloth or canvas – high-top sneakers are not allowed)
• eCourse Certificate
• A valid Michigan Driver’s License
• Keep in mind that the class takes place rain or shine so please come dressed for the weather.

Recommended Equipment:

• It is recommended that participants provide their own titled and registered motorcycle. Proof of insurance and registration is required, the cycle must be plated and it must pass a cycle safety inspection by an instructor.

Refund Policy:
* Course fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Due to the changing situation LCC could cancel classes with very little notice. If LCC cancels a class, students will receive notification via the email address shared in the registration process. Registered students will receive a full refund of course fees if the college cancels the class.

Participants must bring a non-perishable lunch/snacks and eat outdoors or in their vehicles.
