Course Description

Discover how to take exciting photos of wildlife and landscapes for display on personal websites. This 6-hour class will include a field trip to the Potter Park Zoo, the oldest zoo in Michigan, where students will have the opportunity to photograph over 160 species of animals as well as a variety of plant-life. Students will learn from an experienced photojournalist how to capture stunning images both behind fences as well as in the surrounding 102 acres of countryside. Expect to spend one hour in the classroom before leaving for the zoo and two hours after returning to the classroom to edit your favorite shots to share with the class for critique. Students will need to provide their own digital camera (with interchangeable lenses) or a smart phone (along with their camera manual). While not required, a tripod or monopod would be beneficial.
