Course Description

American Sign Language for Family and Friends will provide you with a basic introduction to ASL, as well as, the community that uses it. This class is for anyone who has a desire to better understand a deaf friend or relative or simply wishes to have a basic knowledge of the language. The course will include instruction of the proper structure and use of ASL as a language and not a gestural substitute for English or any other spoken language. Every class session will be interactive and help you learn by doing. Students will be required to purchase the textbook Lessons and Activities in American Sign Language, 2015 at an approximate cost of $40.
